French Public Speaking Competition
In July of 2021, IMYA partnered with RCSBC to co-organize a French public speaking competition, having competitors from across Canada.
French is an official language of Canada and, to many, an important part of what it means to be Canadian. Most provinces and territories have significant minority francophone populations, many of them sizable and having been in place for hundreds of years. The French language continues to play an important role in Canada’s history, politics, and culture from coast to coast. In July of 2021, IMYA partnered with RCSBC to co-organize a French public speaking competition. It had competitors from all over Canada and occurred over zoom. IMYA members and volunteers took part in the organizing process as well as on the day of the competition, taking the roles of tournament director, moderators and the tech team.
